Spanish families opt for online commerce at Christmas

Nine out of ten families will make their Christmas purchases online

Online purchases do not stop increasing and during these holidays 9 out of 10 Spanish families will use this method for 80% of their purchases, which is an increase of 10% compared to the figures of last year, as recorded by the 'Christmas Digital' studio prepared by Privalia.

The report, which aims to analyze the needs and consumption habits of Spanish families at this time, reveals that the management of families at Christmas is based on three key points: "anticipate the dates, have a good organization and, finally, use digital stores to manage Christmas shopping. "

This study has involved more than 1,000 families who use the Internet and demonstrates that users "try to take advantage of any gap in their agenda to organize purchases", being the preferred time at night, when the little ones are in bed. Mobile devices are now becoming allies to take advantage of special discounts offered by stores.

As for the reasons for this preference, highlights "economic savings and time," in 64% of cases. In this way, they avoid the traditional Christmas tails in traditional stores (as explained by 11 percent of respondents) and, in addition, it helps them to have "some control" over the gifts they have left to buy.

The study also includes the most recurrent articles and product categories during these purchases over the Internet. At this point, families differentiate between products that will be given to third parties from those that they buy for their own families. While third parties include gifts such as accessories (51%), toys (41%), and to a lesser extent clothing (38%); for family gifts, fashion is the queen of the season, with 57%, followed by footwear (51%) and children's fashion, with 45%.

During these dates, Privalia reveals that "it plans to manage more than 1.6 million orders" and that it will receive close to "90 million visits on the web in global numbers". In the case of Spain, the company expects "more than 500,000 orders and 31 million visits."
